Day 3

Subject: [firstname]: You MUST get this right!

Hey [firstname]!

When it comes to Internet marketing, the most important decision you can make is choosing your niche.

What is a niche?

A niche is essentially a market, section of the market, or sub-section of the market that you target in your marketing efforts. In other words: Your niche is your audience; they are the people who are going to be interested in what you have to say, and what you have to sell.

As a sidebar, if you've got an existing “bricks and mortar” business you want to take online, you have an advantage here as you already have a niche, and you know what your ideal customer looks like. More about that tomorrow.

There are as many niches as there are people to occupy them. The most popular ones are known as “evergreen” niches. This is because interest is consistent all year long and isn't reliant on the latest fad.

Some good examples of evergreen niches include:

* Health
* Weight Loss
* Sports
* Dating & Relationships

Obviously, the more people share that niche/interest, the greater the opportunities for making money. On the downside, of course, the more popular the niche the more competition there's likely to be. That's why it's a good idea to drill down and find a sub-niche. For example, instead of going after the entire weight loss niche, try targeting weight loss for seniors, or weight loss for seniors with type 2 diabetes. Smaller for sure, but not as competitive.

If you're stuck for ideas, there are a couple of online tools that can help out.

The first one is Google Trends https://trends.google.com/trends/?geo=US this free tool gives you an insight into what people are searching for on Google. The more searches, the more interest.

Another is Market Samurai https://www.marketsamurai.com/ This goes into more detail about what people are searching for, and gives you a good idea as to how many other sites already cater to that niche.
